Terms of Service

These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and TurnitPass ("we," "us," or "the service"). By creating an account, signing in, or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms.

If you use TurnitPass on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to both you and the organization.

TurnitPass provides AI-assisted writing revision ("humanizer"), AI-text detection signals, citation and bibliography generation, a web workspace, and a word-metered public API, delivered in part using third-party large-language-model and translation providers.

We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of changes that materially reduce functionality you are actively paying for.

You may create an account using Google sign-in or another supported method. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must keep your account credentials and any API keys confidential. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access; we are not liable for losses caused by your failure to secure your credentials.

You retain all ownership rights in the text you submit and in the outputs generated for you ("your content"). We do not claim ownership of your content.

By submitting content, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and route your content — including through third-party LLM and translation providers — solely as needed to provide, secure, and support the service.

You represent that you have the necessary rights to submit your content and that doing so does not infringe any third party's rights or violate any law.

TurnitPass is a writing-revision and analysis tool. It is your responsibility to use it in compliance with the academic integrity policies, employer rules, publication guidelines, and platform terms that apply to you.

We do not represent that any output is undetectable by any detector, or that using the service satisfies your obligations to a school, employer, publisher, or platform. You are solely responsible for how you use and disclose AI-assisted content.

AI-detection results are probabilistic signals intended to guide revision, not a factual determination of authorship or a certification of any kind. We are not responsible for how any third-party detector, institution, or platform interprets a text.

You agree not to: use the service to generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights; attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or bypass rate limits or credit metering; share, resell, or expose API keys to unauthorized parties; or use the API in a way that disrupts the service or other users.

We may suspend or restrict access to any account we reasonably believe is engaged in abuse, fraud, credit-limit circumvention, or activity that risks the security or integrity of the service.

Paid plans are billed through Stripe on the cycle and at the rate shown at checkout. Word-count credits are consumed as you use the humanizer, detector, and API, and unused credits do not carry a cash value.

Prices and plans may change on renewal with advance notice. Continuing to use a paid plan after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund amounts already billed except as described in our refund policy.

Fees are generally non-refundable once credits have been issued or consumed, except where required by law. We review refund requests on a case-by-case basis for billing errors, duplicate charges, or service outages that materially prevented use of a paid plan.

To request a refund, contact support within a reasonable time of the charge and describe the issue. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method.

API access is billed by word usage against your plan or credit balance. You are responsible for monitoring your own usage and for all activity conducted with your API key.

You may not use the API to build a service that resells raw, unmodified access to TurnitPass processing without our prior written consent, or to circumvent per-account rate limits or credit metering through multiple accounts.

The TurnitPass software, models, interfaces, and branding are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the service as intended.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that outputs — including AI-detection results, citations, or rewrites — will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular academic, professional, or legal purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TurnitPass and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, goodwill, or academic or professional standing, arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory of liability and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages, except where a limitation is not permitted by applicable law.

You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including content licenses already granted, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution — will survive.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. We will post the revised Terms with an updated effective date, and for material changes we will provide reasonable advance notice, such as an email or in-product notice.

Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to a change, you should stop using the service before it takes effect.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in TurnitPass's place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

If a dispute arises, we ask that you first contact support so we can try to resolve it informally. If it cannot be resolved informally, disputes will be handled through the courts or arbitration forum of competent jurisdiction applicable to TurnitPass's place of operation.
